Supplies You’ll Need

1 medium potato

Black, white, orange, and yellow paint

Paintbrushes

Paper or cardstock

Googly eyes (optional)

Marker or black crayonKnife (for adult use only)

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Have an adult cut the potato in half. Pat the flat side dry with a paper towel to remove extra moisture — this helps the paint stick better.

Step 2: To add the Penguin Body Color, Dip the flat side of the potato into black paint. Press it firmly onto your paper to create the penguin’s round body. Let it dry for a few minutes. I accidently dropped potato randomly on paper.

Step 3: Once the black paint is dry, use a paintbrush or a smaller potato slice to stamp a white oval in the center for the penguin’s belly.

Step 4: Use orange marker to make a small triangle beak and two tiny feet at the bottom. You can add googly eyes. I made it through black marker.

Step 5: Let It Dry and Display!Allow your cute penguin to dry completely before hanging it up or displaying it on a winter-themed art wall.
