If you’re looking for a fun and easy craft to do with kids, this handprint jellyfish is perfect! It’s a great activity for an ocean-themed lesson, summer craft day, or just for some creative fun. Plus, it’s a wonderful keepsake to remember your child’s little hands.
Materials Needed:
- Colored construction paper or cardstock
- Scissors
- Glue stick or school glue
- Googly eyes (or a black marker for drawing eyes)
- Markers or crayons
- Ribbon, yarn, or tissue paper strips (for tentacles)
Instructions:
Step 1: Trace the Handprint
Place your child’s hand on a piece of colored construction paper. Using a pencil, trace around their hand. Then, cut out the handprint carefully.

Step 2: Create the Jellyfish Shape
Flip the handprint upside down so that the fingers face downward—these will be the jellyfish’s tentacles. Cut the body of the jellyfish.
Step 3: Add the Eyes and Mouth
Make googly eyes near the top of the palm. If you don’t have googly eyes, draw them with a marker. Then, use a marker to draw a cute, smiling mouth. I drew the small ribbon to make it look cute.

Step 4: Attach Tentacles
Attach yarn to make tentacles of the jellyfish. And your jelly fish is ready.
Fun Variations:
- Use glitter glue for a sparkly effect.
- Make a rainbow jellyfish using different colors of paper for the tentacles.
- Turn it into a hanging decoration by attaching a string at the top.
This handprint jellyfish craft is simple, creative, and a great way to enjoy crafting with kids. Have fun making your colorful jellyfish friends!
