This simple ladybug craft uses circle construction paper and is perfect for young kids. It’s easy, fun, and great for fine motor skills!
Materials Needed:
- Red construction paper
- Black construction paper
- White construction paper (optional for eyes)
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Black marker
- Googly eyes (optional)
Instructions:
- Cut Out Shapes:
- Cut a large red oval for the ladybug’s body.
- Cut a slightly smaller black circle for the head. (Around 2 inches in diameter)
- Cut out small black circles (about ½ inch in diameter) for the ladybug’s spots. You can cut around 5-7 spots. I made through black marker.
- Cut small triangles for legs.
- Make the Ladybug’s Body
- Cut the red circle in half to create wings.
- Glue both halves onto the black circle, leaving a small gap in the middle so the black paper shows underneath (this looks like the ladybug’s back).

- Add Head
- Attach the black head at the top of the body.

- Add Antennae (Optional)
- Cut two thin black strips of paper and glue them behind the head for antennae.

- Make the Face
- Add googly eyes or cut two small white circles and draw pupils with a black marker.
- Use a black marker to draw a smiling mouth.

Your ladybug craft is ready! You can attach a popsicle stick to the back for a puppet or hang them up as decorations.
